Issues
Jibberish fonts
Fonts can sometimes display as "jibberish".
Solution from Neil:
To solve this we'd need to replace the font that is being used in every slide, layer etc. But 360 has a nice option to do this for you. If you go to Design -> Fonts. You will see an option for 'Use Modern Text'. This will replace all the fonts in the course with one from the same font family, that works better/at all. See attached for where this option lives.
Warning from Colin:
As an additional note, I have no idea if this is something we should just always use, but we'll look into it. I've never seen the setting before to be honest. It definitely makes a rendering difference so definitely do NOT do it to courses in a suite, etc. for right now unless it's needed to fix something.
Offset motion paths
Motion Paths will sometimes be offset slightly when starting and stopping, if you’re using the relative start point, objects will become misaligned
Pause on answer feedback
There is a potential bug with the question slides in Storyline 2 where you answer questions, Storyline 2 looks like it freezes or pauses before providing you with any feedback.
Toggling visibility moved object down timeline
Sometimes when you turn visibility on and off for individual objects in the timeline that object will move further down the timeline. Ctrl + Z does not fix this random shift. This appears to be an unpredictable quirk of storyline 2
State Registration points
If you have two objects in the state, they both may not display in the same location once the slide is exported. For example, a shape may appear exactly where it appears in the timeline, but text might try to centre itself relative to the registration point display differently in an export.
Solution
Copy the text into the main timeline so see where Storyline thinks it should go, then compensate the location in the state.
Background Color not updating
When attempting to change the background colour on a slide with the player options, it might be overwritten by the autosave.
Solution
Try changing it at the publishing slide in the player options.
Feedback Slide resizing
Storyline will automatically change the size of the response feedback to what it thinks is best.
Solution
You can make it smaller, and in some cases larger, but for the most part, you will be locked at what Storyline produces or smaller. You can work around it by using a blank feedback slide.
Radio buttons won’t deselect
Usually caused by not being apart of the same ‘button set.’
Solution
Select all radio buttons on stage and right click: button set.
Slide jump while replacing photo
If you choose to replace the photo with another there is a bug where it will jump you to a random slide in your course and will not allow you to change the photo.
Solution
Rename the photo that you are replacing it with.
Unable to rename photo
Sometimes the photo name in the timeline will remain the same even though it is a different image. This can be confusing at times.
Solution
Restart storyline
Paste of asset lengthens timeline
When you copy an asset from one slide (source slide), it will stay at the same duration when you paste it into another (destination slide). If your source slide is 50 seconds long and your destination slide is 30 seconds long, after you paste the asset, the timeline will be stretched to 50 seconds long. This is a common reason we sometimes see long empty sections of slides.
Solution
Resize
Treatment Text on slide increases when zooming into the slide
If you select the custom shape tool under insert, then try to zoom into your slide to view it better, the program sometimes gets confused and will increase the font size of all text on the slide without zooming into the slide.
Solution
Ctrl z will fix this, though not sure why this happens.
Scaling window crop seek bar
Seek Bar gets cropped when scaling the window
Solution
To solve this issue you'll need to go into the story.html file and change the styling at the top of the page. In the section which reads ' body { margin: 0px; } ' either change that margin value, or add a padding value. You will also need to remove the 'close course' bar which appears on non-flash based films courses.
