Troubleshooting

Handsets

ICOM provided Comwave VOIP phones should work with an internet connection but an improperly setup network firewall may cause technical issues and prevent proper operation.

Basic wiring for a Polycom IP 335 (other models should be similar).

Ensure that the back of your handset looks like this photo with power and handset connected, plus a known good network patch cable should be plugged into the LAN jack.

The other end of your network cable should be plugged into a known good wall jack. Inside the ICOM Calgary office, they should be coloured blue and they will be labelled with a code that begins with the letter "V", which stands for VOIP.

The phone will be down at first but eventually discover the network and pull an IP address. This may take several minutes. When moving a phone between networks cycling the power (unplug & replug) several times may be required until the phone attempts to pull another IP address from the new network.
