Deployment

"The course is on the FTP" translates to "We uploaded the course to ICOM File Manager under the account MCanderova".

It's on Tenzing server9483 at this path:

  • /var/www/vhosts/files/webroot/htdocs/Clients/MCanderova

Signoff

If anyone requests an update, functionality change, course loading or other functionality change for Huskylearns, please do not process unless the final signoff is from either Miriam or Linda Benallick. It would be great if you continued to cc Trevor Holder on contractor login deployment and other major functionality requests for the near future until we finalize our working process here. Create an LMS certificate regardless if it is requested or not. If it is not, do not enter in an expiry date.

NOTE:

We had an incident where an unauthorized person (even though they thought they were) ask for a change to the website. Miriam was not happy with this. I asked her to put the process in an e-mail so we can make sure it is followed to the letter. Below is what she sent us.

Local training administrators, with administrative access to the site are authorized to create and maintain individual accounts.

LMS Advisors team (currently Linda Benallick and Miriam Canderova) have to be involved any time other changes are requested.

Examples of requests:

· Upload new course

· Add qualification to a course

· Create certificate for a course

· Create new user group

· Create new report

· Any other changes that affect more than one user

Thank you,

ILT Certificates

Husky has had some ILT certificates made. They can be found here and modified for the current course you are working on:

Y:\Husky\_assets\ILT Certificates

ICOM courses

All ICOM courses are deployed in both LSO & FiLMS.

For FiLMS courses we require the following:

a) Who is the target audience for the training?

  • "Husky" users who have a Husky e-mail address; or
  • "Not Husky" users who do NOT have a Husky e-mail address; or
  • Both "Husky" & "Not Husky" users

b) In the FiLMS RfD these details are also required for Husky's reporting:

  • Qualification Object ID
  • Proficiency ID

c) Does this training certification expire after a certain period? Eg: 2 years expiry. If so we specify

To ensure the "Course is complete" message in the course use this text in the films.ini:

<courseCompleteMessageText></courseCompleteMessageText>

For FiLMS Deployments make sure the course name, course code, structure name, curriculum and class all have the same name exactly. Also, make sure you put UAT1 on the end and increment it for each redeploy. Eg: Really Cool Course NameUAT1

For all deployments, clear out all the unnecessary files:

- Photo Resize

- _test_locally

- offline_index

- Test_only*

- *.class

- *.java

- *.xsd

- *-copy

Praxis Tech

Praxis courses are SCORM 1.2 and produce Final Scores. Ensure the FiLMS Course Configuration for each course matches the Mastery Score provided in the imsmanifest.xml file. Without this FiLMS may miscalculate Pass/Fail.

Packages can be modified to allow a user to skip to the test.

Tiogshi Laj, Technical Developer, Praxis Technical Group:

Inside the SCORM package, you will see a folder called "definitions", inside of which is a "project.xml". On or about line 4, you will see...

<module enabled="true" name="ProgressiveUnlock" [...]

Change enabled to "false", and you will be able to navigate to any chapter, without first completing the preceeding chapters.

Work Site Leaders Courses with Learning Log

Click here to find out more about FM_LearningLog

To add the learning log feature to the course, simply change the launch method (can be found in the course's structure) from ICOM SCORM 1.2 to Learning Log.

For Download / Print learning log feature, the list of courses will be displayed based on user's active enrollment.

Content Development

Visual Style

Have questions regarding the visual style of Husky? Our history with them is long, but here are the 3 main visual styles of husky.

The visual style is often SME/Department dependent, but if no standard is chosen we often default to the onboarding look that uses husky's primary branding colors: Red, Blue, and Grey.

Exploration and Production Services - Work Site Leaders - is a specific department of husky primarily focusing on field workers out on the rigs. They have a specific style guide developed for their course suite.

Internet Explorer

Husky's interface tends to behave abit differently between browsers, one notable issue is IE locks down the window size when run specifically through QA3 (cannot resize window at all.) This issue cannot be resolved by the interactive team. This would have to be a change to QA3 itself via the Tech Team. For now this is considered a non issue as Husky gets deployed through Husky Learns Learning Log frame, or SAP that do not behave the same way.

Developer Checklist (Last updated Dec 2016)

  1. Has the “How to use This Learning Tool” lesson had its requirement turned off?
  2. Before the introduction to how to leave the course, has the lesson been flagged as complete? Add “_root.BRAIN.trackLessonCompletion(false);” to a frame or in the policy confirmation dialog for policy courses.
  3. Have you created a SAP version of the course? (See Checklist below)
  4. Have you updated the interface to the new scale-able Interface? (Can be found at Y:\Husky\_templates\Scaling Interface Templates)
  5. Have you applied the IE fix? (load.swf, index.html and Films_ini.txt)
  6. Confirm that lessons complete at 80% (This is included in the IE fix but check anyway)
  7. Test that the course closes in IE without a popup.

SAP Checklist (Last updated Apr 2015)

  1. The How to use This Learning Tool lesson has had it’s requirement turned off?
  2. Does the Conclusion lesson have an outro exit detailing how to leave the course? Check ECM for an example.
  3. Before the introduction to how to leave the course, has the lesson been flagged as complete? Add “_root.BRAIN.trackLessonCompletion(false);” to a frame
  4. The ending movie clip should only say “Course complete”
  5. Does the FiLMS_ini.txt contain “<courseCompleteMessageText></courseCompleteMessageText>”?
  6. Use this File here: Y:\Husky\_IE POPUP FIX, Replace the index.html file in the SCORM zip folder
  7. TEST TEST TEST IN INTERNET EXPLORER, CLOSING THE COURSE SHOULD NOT CONTAIN ANY POP-UPS

Scalable Interface Setup

This is a process for implementing the scaling interface for Husky courses. Any questions on this process, please contact Colin Bittner for more info.

PART 1 - SETTING UP THE INTERFACE

    1. Copy the husky_scalableTemplate_brain3Interface.fla from Y:\Husky\_templates\Scaling Interface Templates and paste it to a folder on your desktop, along with the SlideAccordianTheme.as, VCR.as, and icomAS2 folder.
    2. Open the FLA, and edit the course title to match your course
    3. ONLY DO STEPS 3 & 4 IF YOUR COURSE CONTAINS A RESOURCES MENU
    4. Open the vcrControls movieclip, and un-guide the Resources button on the “resources” layer
    5. Copy and paste your resource links from your non-scaling interface to the ‘Resources’ movieclip in the library of the scaling interface
    6. ONLY DO STEP 5 IF YOUR COURSE CONTAINS A CERTIFICATE
    7. Un-guide the certificate button on the “cert button” layer
    8. Export your interface and include it in your export folder(s) - keep in mind we will have 2 deployed versions of each course (usually - check with your PM):
    9. • SAP
    10. • HuskyLearns
    11. Move the old interface to Y:/Husky/_templates/Depreciated Interfaces
    12. Move the new interface to Y:/Husky/_templates

PART 2 - PACKAGING THE COURSE

    1. Open the course via the load.swf file, and ensure that it scales correctly and works as expected. All elements should be visible at all times. Scaling the course higher than it is wide will ‘unstick’ the white bar from the top of the window, this is fine
    2. Export your course using Course Builder as a SCORM 1.2 package
    3. Extract this package to it’s own folder
    4. Copy the five files located in Y:\Husky\_templates\Scaling Interface Templates\__REPLACE FILES to your extracted course and overwrite them, these should be:
      1. films.swf
      2. index.html
      3. load.swf
      4. scorm12.swf
      5. FiLMS_ini.txt
    5. Open index.html in a code viewer of some sort (Notepad++ recommended and pre-installed for devs)
    6. Replace #COURSE NAME# on line 7 with the same title you used in the interface, save, and close the file
    7. Re-zip the course package and overwrite your original SCORM package - make sure you do not zip the FOLDER, instead zip the FILES in the folder
    8. Repeat for each version of the course

That’s it!
