Flash Update Introduces Issues with Local Files [Flashplayer 23.x.x]

Post date: Sep 20, 2016 9:47:20 PM

In Flash players 23 and above, the 'local with filesystem' access profile has been disabled. This means that our coursware, when run from local disk, but run using the browser's flash player, will not work. The first file embedded or launched will show up, but this file will not be able to load additional content such as the interface, lessons, etc.

Workaround

We have built a workaround for this issue that re-enables support for the affected feature. You can employ these fixes by downloading and running the following files on your computer:

Notes:

  • You will need administrator privileges to run the ff_sys.exe, which corrects the issue for all non-chrome browsers. The ff_chrome.exe file can be run by anyone.
  • You can also find and run these exe files from within ICOM's office at: R:\_FLASH23_FIX\

Affected Products

  • All swf based content run from local disks, including files from Y, SPAT, etc.
